RecommendationsDevelopment processesFor a larger project, in future we would ideally have a graphic designer and a web programmer on board, as well as a web designer - to enable the workload to spread out more widely. While several teachers' skills have improved hugely - meaning their input is very significant, our tendency has been to allow the web design workload to rest heavily on a single person in each project. AccessA major challenge which remains - which many smaller ACE providers face - is that of access to the computer room. As teachers have become more enthusiastic about using technology, language and literacy classes are having to compete for time on the twelve computers at Merrilands. Future research and exploration -We are about to invest in more on-site resources - for example VanDiemens Land, AMES That's Life, Protea Textware's Connected Speech and Writer's Caravan. Things not yet attempted - using talkback radio to inform a multimedia language learning program, using DVD in the computer room for language analysis in class, making a video. FLEXIBLE LEARNING LEADERS 2003PRACE is fortunate that one staff member, Michael Chalk, was selected for the ANTA Flexible Learning Leader project 2003. This project will focus on investigating Open Source software, web programming using the PHP scripting language, and developing online community through better facilitation. In an era when companies producing online communication platforms are becoming bigger and bigger - it will be valuable to find out about what is freely available for smaller organisations. Look out for new communication forums at
