Posted May 14, 2018

We are very pleased to announce that PRACE’s Deb Vallely has been invited by the Asylum Seeker Resource Centre to sit on the opening panel of their state conference Celebrate the Journey: Surviving to Thriving Through Vocational Education and Training.

Taking place at Darebin Arts and Entertainment Centre on Tuesday, May 29th, the conference aims to discuss and explore the issues, challenges, impact and strategies involved with people seeking asylum and refugees undertaking a VET course of study.

As a representative of Learn Locals and RTOs, Deb will be discussing the huge impact of people seeking asylum and refugees being eligible to access and complete pre-accredited and accredited VET courses.  She will be speaking about the issues and challenges that present with this cohort and the strategies which can be implemented within an organisation to facilitate successful outcomes.  Deb will also be leading a workshop “Making a Difference: Sharing Lessons Learned and Achievements along the Way.”

We wish Deb well with her preparation for the conference. It is fitting recognition of the knowledge and expertise she has acquired over a number of years through her ongoing work with people seeking asylum and refugees. We are so proud of her  accomplishments and pleased at the contribution she can give to continuous improvement in the sector.
