Walktober: Week 2

Posted October 12, 2018

We are now in Week 2 of our school-wide walk challenge, Walktober!

During Walktober PRACE students and staff are making an extra effort to get outside and get active for the month of October. We have challenged ‘Team PRACE’ to take an awe-inspiring 7,342,333 steps over the course of October or, 3,000 step each per day. This is the distance between Perth and Brisbane, via our lovely capital cities!

Despite the fact that Walktober kicked off while many of our staff and students were still on school holidays, our office and Reconnect staff and a handful of students racked up a fantastic 137.77 km or 171 620 steps in the first week. Great job, team!

It has been wonderful to see groups of our students and staff, slip-slop-slap and then head out into this beautiful spring weather for a brisk and social walk around Reservoir!

Many of our EAL students have used this opportunity to explore new technological terrain by installing and using smartphone apps that serve to track their steps! As many of our students have found, these free apps are a great way to stay motivated and keep your eye on the prize!

Excellent effort Team PRACE – you’ve done a terrific job. Now, let’s all keep on moving!
