Free Youth Programs in Mitchell Shire

This July, young people in Mitchell Shire have the chance to gain real skills and qualifications — all for free — through a fantastic series of school holiday programs. Delivered in partnership with Mitchell Youth Services and supported by FRRR and CVGT, these short courses are designed to build confidence, boost employability, and help young people take their first steps into the workforce.

Take a look at these upcoming programs:

Barista for Beginners

Learn to make espresso coffee and other café favourites in this hands-on two-day workshop.

  • Beveridge: 10–11 July
    Greater Beveridge Community Centre – 1 Lithgow Street, Beveridge
  • Wallan: 15–16 July
    Wallan Youth Room – 42 Bentinck Street, Wallan
  • Time: 10am–3pm

In partnership with Mitchell Youth Services with funding from FRRR.

Safe Food Handling (SITXFSA005 – Use hygienic practices for food safety)

Perfect for anyone wanting to work in hospitality, this one-day course teaches the essentials of food safety and hygiene.

  • Wallan: 14 July
    Wallan Youth Room
  • Time: 9am–4pm

White Card Training (CPCWHS1001 – Prepare to Work Safely in the Construction Industry)

A must-have for anyone wanting to work in construction. This nationally recognised course gives young people the knowledge and certification to work safely on site.

  • Wallan: 29 July
    Wallan Neighbourhood House
  • Time: 9am–5pm

How to Get Involved

These programs are open to young people aged 16–24 living in Mitchell Shire. Spots are limited and fill up quickly, so early registration is recommended.
