Congratulations to former Prace student Felimon Asel for being awarded the 2022 Victorian Learn Local Pre-Accredited Learner (Skills for work) award!
Felimon completed our Civil Construction Labourer course and quickly found employment with our program partner Winslow Constructors. He is a leader in his community and a strong advocate for education.
He was one of the first Sudanese people to arrive in Melbourne as a refugee and, he has helped many new arrivals set up life in Australia. To improve his employment prospects, Felimon completed several English certificate courses at Prace. Then, in 2018 Felimon partnered with us to organise an evening Pre-accredited English class for his community, the Nuba Omarang.
When Felimon lost his factory work during COVID, he came back to Prace and enrolled in the Civil Construction Labourer course. His commitment was exceptional and his dedication to learning made him an outstanding role model for the class.
Congratulations Felimon 🎉
Prace, Winslow Constructors and Mirvac were also recognised as finalists in the Learn Local Partnership Award Category for the creation of the Civil Construction Labourer course. A big thank you to Larissa Farnan (Senior HR Business Manager at Winslow) and Amalia Ridwan (Community Development Manager at Mirvac) for joining us at the celebrations.
We had a wonderful time celebrating the accomplishments of our Learn Local peers and pass on our congratulations to all the winners and finalists.
