PRACE Community Update COVID-19

Posted March 27, 2020

As the COVID-19 pandemic continues, it’s impacting our community in many different and difficult ways. We’re doing everything we can to adapt and provide support to our students, staff, volunteers and community groups.

We have made the decision to temporarily close the PRACE site at Merrilands Community Centre as of 5pm today, it’s the right thing to do for the health and wellbeing of the PRACE community and an essential step towards protecting the broader community.

Reception will operate remotely and Maria and the team are available from 9am-5pm Monday to Friday. During this time, the best way to get in touch is by phone 9462 6077 or email office@prace.vic.edu.au

As you know, we’ve been working hard to transition classes to remote delivery wherever possible and where possible, we will continue to deliver term two classes using home learning strategies from Tuesday 14th of April.

To ensure we continue to respond to the needs of our community we are continuing with the following classes and services.

  • English as an Additional Language (EAL) All SEE, AMEP and Skills First referrals remain open with initial interviews now conducted remotely.
  • Certificate III in Education Support is taking enrolments.
  • Reconnect The team are taking new registrations and continue to work with existing clients remotely.
  • Term Two Courses We are taking expressions of interest (May onwards).
  • PRACE College will resume classes via remote delivery on the 14th of April. The College is taking enrolments.
  • PRACE at Merrilands Community Centre The site will close at 5pm today and remain closed until the 27th of April.

All PRACE staff will be working remotely until the anticipated re-opening of the site on Monday the 27th of April. Life at PRACE, like everything around us, is changing for a while and it will take some time to settle into different ways of working and studying, for you and for us. Let’s do everything we can to get through this together, so we can get back to PRACE as soon as possible.

Until then, stay safe and stay connected online as much as you can and reach out if you need support. We’ll be here for you every step of the way.

Warm regards,

The team at PRACE
