Focus on Employment in Wallan

Posted April 20, 2020

PRACE is now delivering the Focus on Employment course in Wallan and we are pleased to welcome our new teacher Katy Send to the PRACE team.

Katy is excited to bring PRACE to her local community in the far North of Melbourne.

“As a teacher and local I welcome the opportunity to help Wallan residents discover new career prospects and find employment” says Katy.

The Focus on Employment course helps job seekers, the unemployed or people wanting to change their career with practical skills for success. During the course students:

  • Build confidence when seeking work.
  • Develop computer and digital skills.
  • Learn how to tailor a cover letter and resume.
  • Practice interview skills.
  • Apply new skills in real life scenarios.

Like all of our programs, the course has now transitioned to remote delivery via emails, written activities, videos and phone calls.

Developing an effective remote delivery model has been particularly challenging for this course that relies on one-to-one interactions and support. However, Katy is determined to “preach what we teach and find new opportunities in these difficult times”.

Focus on Employment is the first course PRACE has delivered Wallan Neighbourhood House. House Manager, Pauline Cornish, has helped connect us with the local community and we are grateful for her outstanding support for the program.

Enrolments for this course are ongoing, find out more by calling the office on 9462 6077 or send an email to nmulquiney@prace.vic.edu.au
