Greenspace Industries: Horticulture

Grow your horticulture knowledge and gain new skills in this practical short course.

Learn about the fundamentals of horticulture and green space industries in Australia and the practical knowledge needed for entry-level participation in common horticulture tasks.

In this class you will learn about:

• Horticulture industry
• Plant parts and functions
• Plant classification
• Propagation
• Soil and growing media
• Plant maintenance
• Plant displays and garden essentials
• Safe use of tools and equipment, and
• Common workplace practices in horticulture

This course prepares participants for further pathways, such as:

• Certificate II in Horticulture or Landscaping
• Entry-level roles in nurseries, parks, gardens, or horticulture settings
• Volunteer/community garden work as skill-building opportunities

  • Prerequisites and eligibility

    Participants must be an Australian citizen or permanent resident and have intermediate reading and comprehension. 18+ years and out of school.
