Celebrating Cultural Diversity & Harmony Week
This Cultural Diversity and Harmony Week, we celebrated the incredible diversity that makes our community so special and makes Prace a place where everyone truly belongs!
At Prace, our students come from all around the world, bringing their unique stories, strengths, and cultures that enrich every classroom.
Did you know that from our adult student body:
- 58% of students were born outside of Australia, representing 68 countries.
- 41 different languages other than English are spoken at home by our students, with the top 5 languages represented being Arabic, Mandarin, Persian (*excluding Dari), Urdu, and Vietnamese.
- 3% of our students identify as Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander.
For over 30 years, Prace has fostered a vibrant sense of acceptance and belonging. This foundation continues to thrive through our learners, teachers, staff, and volunteers whose diverse backgrounds, languages, and experiences create a strong and connected community – one we are extremely proud to celebrate and showcase this Cultural Diversity and Harmony Week.
Let’s continue to celebrate what unites us and the strength that comes from our diversity.
In 2026, Harmony Week ran from Monday 16 – Sunday 22 March.
Morning Tea at Greater Beveridge Community Centre
Throughout the week, we enjoyed many inclusive and diverse community events.
On March 17, we hosted a wonderful morning tea at Greater Beveridge Community Centre with lots of conversation over barista-made coffee, tea, and hot chocolates while attendees enjoyed a delicious spread of cakes, fresh fruit, and lots of yummy snacks.
Thank you to Mitchell Shire Council for supporting this event!
Flavours of Belonging: Cultural Cooking Experience
We also had an incredible time with a hands-on cultural cooking experience led by talented local hospitality business owner, Raj.
Raj guided us through a step-by-step demonstration of how to make a classic butter chicken, and everyone had the chance to get involved!
A huge thank you to Raj for so generously sharing his knowledge and talents, and to everyone who joined us and made the day so special.
This event was proudly funded through Mitchell Shire Council’s Harmony Week Grant Program and delivered by Prace in partnership with Wallan Neighbourhood House.
