At Prace, National NAIDOC Week is a time to celebrate and recognise the history, culture and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. It’s an opportunity for all Australians to learn about First Nations cultures and histories and participate in celebrations of the oldest, continuous living cultures on earth.
This year, to celebrate NAIDOC Week Prace hosted a poster colouring competition to raise funds for Aboriginal Literacy Foundation.
For the artwork, we used the poster created by artist Rhyia Dank: “My NAIDOC poster artwork highlights what we have been, and are still fighting for, and collaborating on these story templates is a brilliant opportunity to give all Australians a chance to use social media to celebrate NAIDOC, and to support and share the work of First Nations businesses and creators all over the country.”
Congratulations to the winners of the colouring in competition:
Thank you for your impressive works of art and for your contribution in celebrating NAIDOC Week 2022. WELL DONE!!
All proceeds raised from the competition will be donated to our chosen charity – Aboriginal Literacy Foundation, who are an amazing organisation that provides literacy resources to help enhance reading and learning at home by encouraging children to read, and also parents to read with their children. This gives children the building blocks to ensure they have the best chance at success. Our donation box will be available for you at Main Reception until Friday 22nd July 2022. So if you missed out on making a kind donation don’t worry, you still have time.
In support of local indigenous small businesses, competition prizes were sourced from Clothing The Gaps a for purpose social enterprise registered with Social Traders. Go check them out!
And, a big thank you to everyone who submitted artwork and made donations supporting NAIDOC Week 2022!
