From October 2023 to December 2024, the AMEP Connect program took a transformative approach to supporting clients in the Adult Migrant English Program (AMEP). Using a one-to-one, case-management method, we helped participants overcome significant situational barriers—such as homelessness, family violence, and caregiving responsibilities—that hindered their ability to access education, employment, or further opportunities.
Through three tailored interventions, participants were empowered to:
✔️ Assess their barriers and define aspirations.
✔️ Develop and implement a personalised support plan.
✔️ Create and pursue aspirational career pathways.
The results speak volumes:
This impactful program, made possible by an AMEP Innovative Projects grant, was proudly delivered by Prace in collaboration with four dedicated AMEP community education providers: Olympic Neighbourhood House (West Heidelberg), Fitzroy Learning Network (Fitzroy), Carringbush Adult Education (Richmond), and Carlton Neighbourhood Learning Centre (Carlton).
We’re incredibly proud of the participants’ achievements and grateful to all who made this journey possible. Here’s to breaking barriers and building brighter futures!
Here’s what some of our program participants had to say:
“I would like to sincerely thank you for this service. I felt lost and isolated and didn’t know what to do. With the assistance of the AMEP Connect Program Coordinator, I have gradually taken small but very meaningful steps to regain confidence and hope that I can move forward and build a fulfilling life.”
-AMEP Connect Participant
“The program’s assistance opened the door to my first nursing role…
I’m deeply grateful to the program and especially to Jonathan, whose encouragement and practical support made all the difference. Thank you for helping me achieve my goals and build a more secure future in Australia.“
