Celebrating Kathryn’s learning journey through the ACE Scholarships Program

At Prace, we are passionate about lifelong learning, and there is nothing more rewarding than seeing our own staff members embrace opportunities to grow and build confidence in their professional journeys.

We are delighted to congratulate Kathryn, Prace’s Administration Officer (Pre-accredited Programs), on being awarded an Adult Community Education (ACE) Scholarship and completing the first stage of her training, the Foundation Skills Integration Skill Set, at Park Orchards Community House and Learning Centre.

The Foundation Skills Integration Skill Set equips teachers, trainers and support staff with practical tools and strategies to integrate language, literacy and numeracy skills into training programs.

Delivered as an intensive five-day program, the scholarship provided Kathryn with valuable professional development while also opening new pathways for her future in adult education.

Reflecting on the experience, Kathryn shared:

“It made me realise that I was capable of more than I'd given myself credit for. That shift in how I see myself as a learner has been just as valuable as the financial help. I've started to think seriously about what could be next. I'm now considering going on to study the Certificate IV in Training and Assessment, which felt out of reach before. The scholarship didn't just help me get through the course — it opened a door I didn't think was there."

Kathryn’s enthusiasm and commitment to learning have already made a positive impact, and we are thrilled that her journey will be continuing. She will shortly commence the second part of the scholarship pathway: the Certificate IV in Training and Assessment.

As part of this qualification, Kathryn will complete 200 hours of placement at Prace, where she will work alongside our teaching team, assisting in the classroom as a teacher’s aide, supporting learners, and contributing to the development of learning resources. This hands-on experience will further strengthen her skills and help prepare her for future opportunities within the adult education sector.

We are incredibly proud of Kathryn for embracing this opportunity and for the dedication she has shown throughout her studies.

We would also like to acknowledge and thank the Adult, Community and Further Education (ACFE) Board and the Victorian State Government Department of Jobs, Skills, Industry and Regions for making opportunities like this possible through the ACE Scholarships Program.

The ACE Scholarships Program supports prospective, new and existing Learn Local teachers, trainers and practitioners to undertake qualifications, specialist training and upskilling in language, literacy and numeracy. By investing in the professional growth of educators and support staff, the program helps strengthen Victoria’s Learn Local sector and ensures learners continue to receive high-quality educational experiences.

Programs such as these are a wonderful example of the Learn Local sector’s commitment to developing its workforce. We are grateful for the support available to organisations like Prace and for the opportunities it creates for our staff to learn, grow and contribute even more to our community.

Congratulations, Kathryn, on this fantastic achievement!

We look forward to supporting you as you take this exciting next step in your journey.
