Meet Trang

Trang wanted to improve her English and seek better employment opportunities. Through Centrelink, she learnt that she could access free English classes at Prace through the SEE program. Trang is a highly respected member of her class, a great team player who generously contributes to events and is always ready to help other students. We are pleased to share a story she has written about her time in our EAL program.

My name is Trang. I came to Australia with my husband in 2000. We live in Thomastown and have two children, my son is 26 and my daughter is 15. I worked in Epping for two to three years, but I really needed to improve my English to get a better job.

I am currently a studying Course in EAL. I started in term two 2025, having been recommended to study at Prace. I like having volunteers assist my teacher, Christina when teaching me. I enjoy the workbooks and videos from which I learn English. I like working in pairs and groups with the other students. I really like it when we go on a walk around the streets of Reservoir near my school looking for nouns and adjectives – “a red car”, “a tall tree”.

Since joining the English classes at Prace I’ve increased my vocab, I feel more confidence speaking English, and when I went to my daughter’s parent teacher interview recently, I was surprised that I understood a lot more than previously.

I’m more comfortable now speaking to my classmates in English and when I go shopping. I’m reading better and I’m slowly improving my writing by coming to class every day.

I would encourage other people to come to Prace to improve their English skills, the classes are small and it’s fun and practical learning English.
