National Reconciliation Week 2026
National Reconciliation Week provides an important opportunity to deepen our understanding of our shared cultures and histories, recognising both the progress made and the work that still lies ahead to achieve a truly just and reconciled Australia.
This year’s theme, All In, encourages all Australians to commit wholeheartedly to reconciliation every single day.
"The theme also reminds us that reconciliation and advancing Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples’ rights isn’t a passive activity, and it is not solely the responsibility of First Nations people, who have carried the weight of championing, explaining and acting for far too long. Reconciliation will not happen by itself, and it will not happen without all of us."
Reconciliation Australia
At Prace, staff, students and visitors embraced this message through a range of meaningful activities that encouraged reflection, understanding and community participation:
THE REFLECTION TREE
Our National Reconciliation Week (27 May – 3 June) journey began on National Sorry Day (May 26) with the creation of our ‘Leaves of Healing’ Reflection Tree.
Community members were invited to add messages of reflection, healing, hope and respect, with each leaf contributing to a growing display of shared commitment and learning.
Throughout the week, the tree continued to flourish as more people added their thoughts and aspirations for a more fair, safe and reconciled Australia.
Located on Prace’s Reservoir campus in the Merrilands Community Centre foyer, the Reflection Tree stands as a powerful symbol of collective action.
It reminds us that reconciliation grows through our shared efforts and commitment, with each individual contribution helping to build a more connected and hopeful future:
VOICES FOR RECONCILIATION
Prace students and staff also joined communities and choirs across Australia in Voices for Reconciliation as part of NRW2026, performing Midnight Oil’s iconic land rights anthem ‘Beds Are Burning’.
Students from our Certificate III in EAL, Certificate II in EAL (A & B), and Adult Literacy programs proudly took part, lending their voices to a national call for justice, truth-telling and reconciliation:
Thank you to everyone who participated in our 2026 National Reconciliation Week initiatives both in and beyond the classroom.
By learning, listening, reflecting and acting together, we each play a role in advancing reconciliation for a more inclusive and just future for all Australians.
