Our Students Celebrate Chinese New Year

Our Preliminary English students recently celebrated the Chinese New Year.

They learnt their ordinal numbers by watching “The Great Race” which retells the story of the 12 animals of the Chinese Zodiac. They learnt to read dates focusing on reading years (1988), and learnt to read information from a table in order to locate their own special animal.

Students also watched an instructional video before making their own paper lanterns. They read written and pictorial instructions and used a variety of materials to make their own lantern sun catchers.

The Chinese students loved learning the English words and being able to share such a big part of their Chinese culture with their classmates.
