Forms and Advocacy Assist Service – Update

The Forms and Advocacy Assist Service (FAAS) has gotten off to a great start and we have had a positive response from the community. The service has provided assistance to local community members in a diverse range of matters.  

Recently we have made a few improvements to the service and we now offer appointments

  • face-to-face
  • by phone 
  • or Zoom (video conference).

FAAS is available every Thursday at Prace – Merrilands Community Centre.

About the Service

FAAS is a FREE service to assist local community members with form-filling support and consumer advocacy.

FAAS is delivered by La Trobe University students, trained in providing a range of services. For instance, assisting a client to respond to a letter requesting action from the client or denial of an application, seeking further information regarding a form and supporting document requirements behalf of clients, and following up on behalf of a client regarding a form they have lodged.

FAAS are able to assist with a wide range of forms including:

– Centrelink forms.
– Child support.
– Housing and lease agreements.
– Fines.
– Divorce applications.
– Family violence/personal safety intervention order applications.
– Tax submissions.
– Immigration forms.
– Superannuation.
– Powers of Attorney and Medical Treatment Decision Maker forms.
– Identity documents.
– Statutory declarations.

In addition, the FAAS team also provide advocacy for clients needing assistance with telephone and utility companies, housing, complaints and job agencies.
