We are delighted to announce that our very own volunteer Mark Hopkins has been selected as an award recipient in the Service category for the 2019 Premier’s Volunteer Champions Awards. What an amazing and well-deserved achievement.
Mark, a former student in PRACE’s evening adult literacy class Spelling Reading and Writing for Adults, transitioned from student to class volunteer in 2017. Mark’s contribution to the classroom is invaluable. His insight and personal understanding of struggling with literacy and all that it entails, is priceless and that is reflected in the outcomes achieved by the students due to Mark’s commitment and unwavering support. Mark doesn’t just ‘talk the talk’ he walks it, on a road he has built himself – with decades of hard work, grit and dedication. Mark is now using this hard earned lived experience to support others to learn, grow and achieve.
We are so very proud of all that Mark has accomplished. Congratulations!
A formal ceremony honouring Mark and his fellow awardees will be held at Government House on Sunday, 1 December 2019.
